Ascot Ladies Lunch (3)
Over 70 ladies attended our annual fundraising lunch at Hotel du Vin in Tunbridge Wells whilst watching (and betting on) the races. This was again a very successful and fun event with all money raised going towards the provision of running water for the Health Centre and Education Centre. -
Kenya Week at Holmewood House School (12)
The Haller Foundation held Kenya Week at Holmewood House School this week to give the pre-prep school children an insight into life for Kenyan Children. The Pre-prep pupils learnt how to plant vegetables in tyres, how to wear traditional African dress, and a few songs and dances with the help of Joyce who runs our Education Centre in Mombasa and who is over for this week from Kenya. -
Health Clinic and Mobile Medical Unit (25)
The Haller Foundation's health clinic is up and running, serving over 500 patients in the Mombasa area. -
Water Harvesting (8)
The Haller Foundation runs a variety of Water Harvesting Projects - from collecting rain water off of roof tops to the construction of coffer and clay dams. -
Nguuni Education Centre (10)
The Nguuni Education Centre opened in October 2006. It is an invaluable resource to 30,000 children and adults. It is the first FREE children's library in Kenya. -
Farmer Field Training Programme (18)
Teaching local farmers the skills of how to grow their own food in a sustainable way while overcoming the challenges they face (poor soil quality, erosion, lack of water) is one of the corner stones of achieving one of our aims - achieving food security. -
Saturday Morning Workshops (16)
The Haller Foundation runs Saturday Morning Workshops for the all children in the surrounding communities. They get a chance to learn about the natural rocks and minerals of Kenya and how to use their imagination to create Rock Crafts, to learning how to identify medicinal properties of the naturally grown plants and vegetation, to learning and playing with magnets, enjoying nature walks to identify birds and wildlife and getting a chance to sing songs.
